Three years ago, David defeated Goliath. In the 2010 regional final at the Fairgrounds Coliseum, Northland, the nation’s No. 1 team, led by Jared Sullinger and Trey Burke was dispatched 71-45 to an underdog Gahanna Lincoln squad in arguably the biggest upset in recent history. Northland vs. Canton Timken Preview

On Wednesday night, two of the 16 teams remaining in the state of Ohio will meet on the Ohio Expo Center Coliseum floor for a vital regional semifinal matchup. Northland, the No. 1 team in Division I comes into Wednesday’s game, winners of 26 straight, including a hard-fought victory over Olentangy Liberty, 52-48 on Saturday. At 17-9, Canton Timken enters the Coliseum as huge underdogs, but peaking at the right time.  Continue reading

Whatever struggles the Westland Cougars (18-6) had at home just a few weeks ago are long gone after tonight’s enormous victory over Westerville Central in the second round of tournament play, 77-62. Led by Kersey Long’s 26 points, the Cougars ran the Warhawks off the court with suffocating defense which in turn led to transition offense to guide Westland to the win. Continue reading
